　　舰队前去救援一名企业号队员。皮卡发觉由于巴库族拥有一种奇特物质，可作为索纳族的治疗良方，因而索纳勾结了一名联邦将领策划将巴库族驱逐出他们所居星球，皮卡当然要马上阻止这个大阴谋的得逞……



　　「星際叛變」是星艦系列電影的第九集，美國地區在一九九八年的十二月十一日上映，飾演瑞克中校的演員繼「戰鬥巡航」後又一次執導，本劇的反派角色由因「阿瑪迪斯」一片而獲得奧斯卡最佳男主角的「穆雷‧亞伯拉罕」飾演，不過因為飾演外星人化了妝，有點認不出來，本劇的架購又重回傳統「星艦系列」的模式，劇情介紹後會說明。

　　一個寧靜的小村莊，每個人都過著自由自在的生活，種菜、灌溉、打鐵，一片祥和，但是在山裡面，有一群人正在關察他們，除此之外，他們還派人穿隱形衣，進入村莊裡。突然，一名成員失去控制了！他開始攻擊其他穿隱形衣的人，並且脫下自己的隱形衣，原來失去控制的人竟然是百科！他對著山開槍，於是山裡面的人完全暴露在村人的面前。

　　企業號上，一種外星人正準備與星際聯邦結盟，企業號擔任大使的工作，已經調任到「深太空九號」太空站的武夫也登艦了，他正好在這個區域安置一種新的防禦裝置，聽說企業號到來，所以順便過來打個招呼。這時，杜爾迪上將傳一個訊息來表示百科已經不遵守命令還挾持人質，他必須要有百科的設計圖。畢凱艦長說他會過去處理，但杜爾迪上將一直推辭，畢凱艦長還是堅持前往。

　　杜爾迪上將和一種稱為「索納」的外星人在索納船上，突然，船遭受攻擊，攻擊他們的人又是百科！畢凱艦長命瑞克中校和星異先查查索納族的資料，在一起調查的過程中，星異不斷挑逗瑞克中校，瑞克中校也樂在其中。

　　經過了百科又攻擊自己人的事件，畢凱艦長決定和武夫把百科關機並抓回來。百科的駕船技術實在一流，畢凱艦長的太空梭跟不上它，最後只好用計把兩艘船接在一起，由武夫帶著關機的儀器，順利地把百科關機帶回企業號。

　　企業號船員傳送到地面上準備「救回」被百科「挾持」的人員，沒想到聯邦成員們不但沒有受到挾持，反而受到相當好的待遇，星異也感受到這個稱為「巴庫」星球上的人都是很有紀律、愛好和平的民族。巴庫人表示他們有很高的科技，但是不想使用，以機器來取代人類是一種損失。

　　所有的人傳送回艦上，索納族拒絕受檢，但其他星際聯邦的成員身體狀況卻出奇的好。喬迪修好了百科，並解釋當百科遭到攻擊時會啟動一種保護裝置，保護自己的記憶不會被竊取，並分辨是非，這和索納人報告的「百科主動先攻擊別人」有所出入，畢凱艦長於是又到地面上調查。

　　在一個大湖裡，百科偵測到一些不尋常的輻射線，他走到水裡觀察，終於找到了幻象船，原來索納人在幻象船裡複製了巴庫村，打算趁所有巴庫人熟睡時傳送他們到此，再把他們全部傳走，百科當時發現了這個祕密才會啟動保護裝置，並認為索納人是壞人。

　　大家都變年輕了！首先是星異和瑞克中校重修舊好，瑞克中校特地剃掉鬍子，回到年輕時代的形象，武夫開始長青春痘，畢凱艦長的臉色紅潤了起來，連喬迪都長出新的眼睛！原來巴庫星外圍有一個大環，那個大環可以使星球上的人恢復活力、永保年輕，索納人就是因為如此所以想把巴庫人都送走。

　　畢凱艦長去找杜爾迪上將理論，覺得聯邦不應該和索納人合作，迫害巴庫人，但是杜爾迪上將說他正在執行聯邦的命令，畢凱艦長決定辭職，獨自幫助巴庫人，其他船員也贊同畢凱艦長的想法，喬迪更表示他不會因為能看到正常人眼中的日出而迫害巴庫人。最後由瑞克中校和喬迪駕企業號回艦隊報告，其他人到地面上幫忙。

　　他們在地面上裝反傳送的裝置，但索納人派船炸掉裝置，並且派蜂兵來把他們一個一個傳送走。另一方面，企業號也正被索納船追擊，索納船使用一種被禁止的武器攻擊企業號，瑞克中校使用一種奇計，終於令索納艦爆炸。

　　巴庫人逃進了山洞，這個山洞可以防止被傳送走，不料索納人傳送到地面上來攻打他們，當醫官檢查受傷的索納人時發現，索納人的基因構造竟然和巴庫人相同！醫官告訴畢凱艦長這個消息，這時，又來幾隻蜂兵，畢凱艦長被蜂兵傳送到索納艦上。

　　原來索納人是一百年前由巴庫星出去探險的一群年青人，聯邦幫助他們等於是幫晚輩欺負長輩，杜爾迪上將也知道事情的嚴重性，打算先呈報星際聯邦再作考量，隨即便被索納人的領導「魯阿弗」幹掉了。

　　畢凱艦長說服一名比較善良的索納人幫他忙，他可以請求巴庫人讓他們回去。這時魯阿弗已經準備發射一種收集器，它可以收集大環的輻射線，但從此巴庫星上不能再住人。

　　善良的索納人這時答應幫畢凱艦長的忙，他讓畢凱艦長和百科通訊，畢凱艦長希望百科能駕船去攻擊索納艦，一會，發射器終於把收集器投射出去，一切都和電腦模擬的一模一樣，但他們偵測不到結果！後來他們才發現，原來他們全都在幻象船上，收集器的投射都是幻像！原來就在百科攻擊的過程中，畢艦長趁他們分心，把他們傳送到幻象船裡了！

　　魯阿弗不死心，他把自己傳到發射器裡，準備手動發射收集器，畢凱艦長也將自己傳送過去阻止他。一陣纏鬥後，畢凱艦長引爆了發射器，即時被回航的企業號傳送走，魯阿弗則葬身火窟。

　　眾人又回到星球上，巴庫人接納了索納人。瑞克中校很親密地牽著星異的手，因為環境的影響，瑞克中校釋放了多年來對星異的感情，企業號人員再度回到企業號上，繼續他們的旅程，探索新世界；尋找新生命以及新文明；勇敢地航向前所未至的地方。

　　在劇中，我們可以發現有三組人馬，第一就是心懷鬼胎的索納人，第二是星際聯邦的代表，第三是企業的成員們，其實杜爾迪上將的本意並不是要侵略巴庫星球，他也已經想好如何安置巴庫人的方法，在星艦奇航系列中，我們常常可以看到有人「犧牲小我，完成大我」，第二集電影「星戰大怒吼」的史巴克就是一個例子，在本劇，杜爾迪上將就是為了「大我」著想，決定犧牲「小我」，只不過「小我」並不是他自己，而且又遇上一心想報復的索納人，似乎就讓人感覺杜爾迪上將和他們是同夥了。其實當魯阿弗不顧巴庫人的生命想要強制遷離他們的時候，杜爾迪上將是大力反對的，不過也因此賠了性命，本劇若站在不同的立場就會有不同的想法，這也是星艦系列常常表現的方式。

  • One of the early working titles for the film was "Star Trek: Nemesis", which went on to be the name of the tenth feature. Other titles included "Star Trek: Prime Directive" and "Star Trek: Stardust".
  • This is the only Star Trek movie that does not feature any scenes on or near Earth.
  • This is the only Star Trek movie that features a ringed planet.
  • This movie is the last Star Trek production Michael Piller was involved in.
  • The plot bears striking similarity to a seventh-season episode of TNG entitled "Homeward", in which Worf and his adopted brother use a holodeck to migrate a civilization without its knowledge.
  • Jonathan Frakes, who directed this film, reportedly felt the script was weak and thus made for a less-than perfect movie.
