Actor: Michael Dorn
Character: Worf
Born: December 9, 1952
Place: Luling, Texas

Michael Dorn has portrayed Worf on The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine. He also portrayed Worf's namesake, Colonel Worf, who defended Captain Kirk and Dr. McCoy during the trial for their alleged involvement in the assassination of Chancellor Gorkon in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. (The intention was for this character to be the grandfather of the later Worf, but this was never confirmed on screen.)

Dorn has appeared more times as a regular cast member than any other actor of the Trek franchises, spanning five movies and two television series (with 277 episodic appearances). He also hosted a television series entitled World of Wonder.

Dorn was later a member of The Sunspots, along with Jonathan Frakes, Patrick Stewart and Levar Burton. They appeared as the background vocals for "It's a Sin to Tell a Lie" on Brent Spiner's 1991 album "Ol' Yellow Eyes is Back".

An accomplished pilot, Dorn owns and operates an old Air Force T-33 trainer jet, one of the first jet aircraft in the US inventory; it's often referred to as his "starship." He also maintains an old F-86 Sabre jet that he acquired from the South African Air Force. He has flown with the Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds, the USAF Precision Flight team.

His favorite episode of TNG is "The Drumhead."

As the legend goes, Michael Dorn — a well known Trekker — got the role of Worf not only because he's a great actor but also because he had appeared fully dressed as a Klingon to his audition.
